I love my new swing set!!

Madison is 2 years, 10 months! I can't believe she will be 3 in two months. She is such a little firecracker! She's been having a fun summer. Her favorite things to do lately...sing and dance on her new stage in her room, swing on her swing set and swim. She is SO over soccer...I have to fight with her to go every week. It is too hot to be running around in the sun! I have been making her go but after today, we are done going! We are all over soccer! At least we tried...sorry Chris, your little girl is not going to be a sports girl! She also started gymnastics once a week and LOVES it! Her favorite activity there is the foam pit. Its a huge padded pit full of soft pieces of foam. The kids just get to run and dive into it. Madi has no fear and was the first kid to take a dive! Madi is such great big sister! She is always looking out for Elly and trying to make her laugh....its so cute!

Ellyana is 4 months old! WOW! 4 months went by so fast. Elly is the sweetest baby. She is so easy going and happy. We are enjoying her so much. Things she is doing now: Rolling over, giggling, putting weight on her legs (she's actually been doing this since birth), holding her head up perfectly, sitting in the jumperoo and sleeping 7-8 hours (sometimes). We love her sooo much and can't believe we have only had her in our lives for 4 months. I can't even remember my life without her!

My little sweetie is over 2 months old! I have been busy with 2 silly girls! I am back to work and hating it! Elly is not doing good with the bottle so we are trying different bottles to try and find one she likes. I just bought the Tommee Tippie which is shaped just like momma so we will see! On Monday she went from 5 am to 2 pm only eating about 2 ounces in between! I had to come home at lunch to nurse her. She just loves her momma!! Besides the bottle issue she is doing great...eating, sleeping, pooping and smiling...everything she is supposed to do! She doing a 6-7 hour stretch without eating at night so I have been getting plenty of sleep. She is also very tall, almost 2 feet long!

Big sister, Madison is as sweet as ever! She is so much fun! We can have full on conversations with her now. She is so smart! She is in soccer this summer and she loves it! Chris takes her for an hour a week and they play together...its so sweet! Chris is on cloud 9 because he plays soccer and LOVES that Madi enjoys it. I was the only mom that was obsessing about how cute they looked in their uniforms instead of how good they play soccer! She also starts gymnastics in a few weeks...I can't wait for that!

Now that we have a yard and now that it's FINALLY nice out we plan on spending a lot of time outside. We ordered a swing set and it should be here on Thursday! Our backyard is fenced in so I am excited to just let Madi run run run! Too bad my allergies are horrible right now so I will be sneezing non-stop. I am nursing so I can't take anything, ugh!

I am so blessed! I have the most wonderful Mother! Her life revolves around her kids and her grandkids. She helps me out everyday...I don't know how I would parent without her (spoiled, I know!). She is my best friend and I love her so much! I also got lucky and have a wonderful Mother-in-law! Sandy is such a great Grandma! She is so much fun and I love her dearly! I also have an amazing Grandma and Nana!

I have the most amazing kids (still weird to say kidS!) I am the lucky one! I love Madison because she made me a mother and I love Ellyana because she made me a better mother. Being a Mom has given my life purpose. I love my girls more than anything in the world!

Madison woke up this morning with her Rapunzel doll saying "I want to be Rapunzel today." So i dressed her up in her Tangled dress and we ate breakfast! She stood up in her dress twirled around and said "Oh, Mom! I'm a princess!" She is such a girly girl! We cannot wait to buy Tangled when it comes out next week!

We are a busy family of 3...but not for long! We just moved into our new house and we finally have the Internet again! Also, I broke (shattered on the cement) my camera in July and have been borrowing my mom's since then. We finally got a new camera today, so hopefully I will start blogging more now! 8 days until baby Elly's arrival! We are beyond excited to meet our little baby girl! I finally feel settled in the house, so I am ready for a newborn! My last day of work was yesterday, thank goodness! I was going to work up until a couple days before but my feet/body/everything hurt so bad and so I decided I need to rest for a week before. I went to the doctor today and everything is all good. She is very low and ready to go! I will try and update the blog with pics/info. as soon as I can. I hope everyone is enjoying spring! We are trying but Michigan weather is so yucky! We are having an ice storm right now :(

Wow! I can't believe it's February already! And I can't believe it's been November since my last post...sorry! A lot has been going on this winter. Madi has grown up so much! She is almost 28 months old. She is into EVERYTHING! I am having a hard time keeping up with her lately, especially with my big belly! She is so sweet but she loves to test me...but that's a 2 year old for ya! She has big news...NO MORE DIAPERS! We started the 3-day potty training method on Friday and she has been doing great! She has been staying dry all throughout the day, nights are a different story but we are working on that. I am so proud of her! She is still really excited about having a little sister. She LOVES babies! She is gong to be a big help for me. I am training her to "go get mommy a diaper" and "give baby her paci". HAHA! We have decided on baby girls name...ELLYANA MARIE. (Pronounced EL-EE-ON-A) I will call her Elly for short. I am almost 31 weeks pregnant and feeling pretty good. My c-section is scheduled for March 31st!!!! Only 2 months away! We are moving into our new house this month and having a baby next month....crazy! Here are some catch up pictures...

We had our 19 week ultrasound on Friday to find out the sex and check on the heart. Everything was perfect! The ultrasound tech said that the baby had a "beautiful heart". I had tears running down my face! It was the most amazing thing I have ever heard!!! We had the tech write the sex in an envelope so that Chris and I could find out what we were having in private. So we went out to eat and opened it together. It's a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Madison is very excited about having a sister! They are going to be so close!!

We are beyond blessed to have a healthy baby girl!

Hello! It's been forever...We have been so busy. I havent been posting or reading anyones posts. I hope everyone is doing well. We are having lots of fun this summer! We are moving this week and I am putting on a big bowling fundraiser that is today. Madison is doing great! She is funny, sassy and smart! She is 21 months already! CRAZY! Here is our summer in pictures so far. Plus the video is of Madison singing "I Love you" (Barneys). She burps in the middle of singing and it doesnt even phase her...so funny! I really need to charge my video camera and have to ready for cute moments like this. I always use my cell phone and it's horrible quality. But I guess its better than nothing! ENJOY! Ill be back to blogging when we get settled in a few weeks.

The appt. started out fun playing with the train table...Having fun before the echo with her rubber glove balloon! (Great idea Sandy)Screaming through the whole echo! I felt so bad...Get these wires off of me!! Look at that ticked off face!Cool stethoscope Dr. C!Dr. C loving my Madison!

Madison had her annual heart check-up and it went pretty well. She screamed through the echo and EKG but she didn't move. She was so freaked out that she didn't move, which was good. But I know it was still really hard for the echo tech to do his job with her screaming for the full 30 minute echo!! I kept saying sorry and he said not to worry because she was the best one of the day! Dr. C came in after reviewing the images and said her heart looked GREAT! I was so relieved! She said everything is looking as it should. Her pulmonary veins were a little small like they were last year but they ARE growing. Last year at her appointment her PV was barely even leaking but this time it was leaking a little bit more. Last year Dr. C didn't think she would ever need another surgery but has changed her mind this year. Madison will need a PVR (Pulmonary Valve Replacement) in her teens. This is pretty standard for TOF kids, so it was not a shock. BUT her heart looked good and the great news is.....we don't need another check until she is 3!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING! We are very happy!

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful Pediatric Cardiologist....Dr. C is the best doctor EVER! She is so caring and loving. She lets Madison sit on her lap and play with her chart. She always hugs on her and makes Madison feel so comfortable. She is so smart and I completely trust her. Her entire staff is amazing! They try SO hard to make the kids feel as comfortable and happy as possible. My mom got her a mug from Hallmark that said "Taking care of hearts is my business", so I gave that to her at our appointment. She loved it! (Good idea for all you hearts moms to give to your PC's)

A BIG THANK YOU to my mother-in-law, Sandy for coming with me to this appointment. I was beside myself nervous about it and she made me feel better. She is a nurse in the cath lab and she is very knowledgeable when it comes to the heart. It is a relief to have her with us! I love you Sandy!! Thanks!

We celebrated Skylars 2nd birthday. Skylar is my best friend Nicoles' daughter. It was a blessing to get Madison and Skylar together but it was also hard because I thought of "what could have been." They are only 6 months apart and I know Nicole and I would be having SO MUCH FUN with our baby girls. I miss my best friend so much!

Madison got her first hair cut by her Great-Grandma Nana! She also had her first sucker and LOVED it! She didn't mind having her hair cut but she did not keep her head still. My poor Nana was sweating by the time she was done. She did a great job though!

18 months

Madison is 18 months (almost 19)! She is growing up SO fast! She is so energetic and happy. She is 26 lbs. 34 inches (SO tall!), wearing 24 month clothing and a size 5-6 shoe. She is talking so much! She says about 57 words...but who's counting! ha! She is very advanced in talking. I talk non-stop so she is just taking after me! She learns a new word almost everyday and doesn't forget! She also can somewhat count, sing parts of songs like abc's, row your boat, itsy bitsy spider and knows almost all of her body parts. My favorite, of course, is when she puts her hand on her chest and says "HEART". Melts MY heart every time! Speaking of her heart...I was a little concerned about her for a while. She was tiring out really easy for a few weeks and I was really nervous it was her heart. She was supposed to have her annual heart check-up in July but I got it moved up to May 19th. I am nervous and ready to get it over with! I am sure her heart is doing great BUT you never know what is happening in those little bodies. I am also worried that she will have a fit when they are doing the echo...Do any of you heart moms have any suggestions on how to keep her still? Anyways, Madison is SUCH a joy! Well it has been too long since I have posted...sorry! I am starting to feel better and trying to get back to my new "normal" life. My spirits are up and I am just trying to focus on the positive in my life.

We have been having lots of fun outside in this wonderful Michigan weather. Madison is obsessed with going on "waka" (walks). I am excited about this summer with her. Last summer she didn't even crawl until the end. Now that she is running all over the place so it should be a blast! Maybe I'll actually get in shape from chasing her!!

I have exciting things happening...It is gonna take me a few weeks but I am setting up my new etsy store to sell my hair bows and clips. I will be donating 100% of the profits until July to a charity that is near and dear to my heart (I'll post about this later). I am also going to have a give-a-way as soon as I get the etsy site up and running. I hope you all have a fabulous week!

I tell you this with a heavy heart...Chris and I lost the baby at 9 weeks pregnant. Please pray for my body and our minds to heal.

My friend Laura beautifully wrote this in a card for me...

God knew your baby before it was conceived and welcomed it home to heaven. Your baby is singing with the angels waiting for Mom and Dad to come and join.

I have really been slacking on blogging lately so this will be the longest post about a million random things!! ENJOY!

Did you know that Shaun White, the famous skate/snow boarder had the congenital Heart Defect, Tetralogy of Fallot? This is the exact same heart defect that Madison has. As a child Shaun had 2 surgeries to repair his heart. He will be competing in the winter Olympic tonight! It is so encouraging to see that our "heart babies" are turning into professional athletes!!! AMAZING!

We have had our condo up for sale for over a month now...we have had a lot of showings but no "bites". We are praying that we can sell it soon so we can move into a house with 3 bedrooms. We need room for baby #2! I am ashamed to admit that I have never been a good house keeper. I only did laundry when there was nothing else to wear and I never made my bed (I figured, why make the bed in the morning if your just going to go mess it up at night). Well that has changed since we have had our house up for sale. They can call at anytime and tell you you have a showing in a half an hour. So now I make my bed every morning and keep up with the laundry. It was a pain in the butt at first because i had to get up, get ready for work, clean the house, get Madi up and ready and get out the door before 7:30am. But I got the hang of things now and I am really proud of myself!!! I really love having a clean house and clean clothes!! Lets just hope I keep this up forever...that's the plan!

Madi and I joined a parenting group a year ago when she was only 3 months old. It was through the hospital that we delivered at. 12 of us mommies met at a church every other week with our babes. All of the kids were born with in 2 months of each other. The group ended in the summer time but we still try and meet up once a month. The kids are all so adorable! I love that Madison has kids her age to play with. It is so nice to have other moms to talk to and get support and advice from.

Some of the kids disappeared into the bathroom and we found them in the shower!

Hearts of Hope of S.E. Michigan had a banquet for families affected by CHD's. It was a lot of fun. We sat with 2 other TOF families...it was nice to hear their stories and share ours. The kids had games to play, junk food to eat and a Magic show! Madison just ran around and screamed "HI!" to everyone. They showed a nice video montage of all of our heart babies "before and after". It was very emotional and touching. We met so many wonderful people that we have so much in common with!

Madison was really fascinated with Sponge Bob, she started cracking up and screaming "HI" and I couldn't stop laughing...this is the best picture we could get with Mr. square pants!

Madi had a fun play date with her cousin Reese this weekend. Reese is only 3 months younger than Madi. We took them sledding up and down my aunts looooooooong drive way. It really showed me how out of shape I am!! They were both screaming with joy! It was hilarious! My Aunt Carol showed me how to make a Italian sausage and bean soup....it was easy and delicious!

I am 6 weeks along in my pregnancy and I haven't even been to my doctors appt. yet. But boy do I feel pregnant! I am so tired....I get 10-12 hours of sleep and I wake up exhausted! It's so ridiculous! I am also full of hormones, I can tell. One second I want to bite someones head off and the next I want to cry for no reason! So far I havent bitten anyones head off but I have cried for no reason! I don't remember being this "hormonal" with Madison...I hope I don't have twins!!!! AHHH, that would be crazy! I am not feeling sick though, so I am thankful for that. I just have to get through this crazy hormonal stage so I can enjoy my last pregnancy. (We only want 2 children) I am so excited that I am going to have 2 kids!!! Madison is going to be a great big sister, she loves babies!

I finally got the courage to chop my hair off! My hair was getting too long and heavy. I have really thick hair and when my hair is long it just wears me down. I love my new do, but I haven't really figured out how to style it like I like. When ever I get my hair cut the stylist styles it and I always love it. But when I try and recreate it it never turns out.

Speaking of hair do's...

What the heck am I supposed to do with this little girls mullet/rat tail?! I really want to cut it but I can't because it will be uneven when it finally grows out. Thank goodness for big bows and headbands (if she keeps them in). It distracts people from looking at her mullet! It helps that she is such a cutie too! HA! I know I'm partial!

....that is how long my best friend has been gone...

It's been 1 year, 9months and 11 days and it is not getting easier. I long for her. I wish I could have one more phone call, one more hug, one more laugh. I have really been missing her lately. It is the most random times when I miss her the most. Driving home from work is the WORST. We used to talk everyday at 5 pm on our way home. I haven't let myself erase her number from my phone...maybe it's time. I get depressed every time I see her name in my addresses. I haven't got to the point where I think about her and smile because of the wonderful times we had...When I think of her I just get really sad because I don't have her anymore. I know this is selfish but I guess everyone grieves differently. I miss her so much. I have a picture of Nicole and I in our living room and Madison LOVES it...here are pics of her looking at it today...

We had such a wonderful Christmas full of family and friends. We feel truely blessed! Madi got spoiled of course, but I set up the basement as a playroom so there is plenty of room for every thing. Even though she is too young for Santa, it was fun watching her rip open the presents.

UPDATE: Christian did wonderful and the surgery was a success! They were able to save his valve! This means that there is hardly any chance of a second surgery! It is day 3 and there have been hardly any set back except a minor peeing problem. He may be moving to the step down unit tomorrow! He is moving right along...what a miracle! Please continue to pray that his recovery continues in the right direction. The way things are looking, he will probably be home for Christmas!

Christian has the congenital heart defect, Tetralogy of Fallot (same as Madi). He is having his Open Heart Surgery this Tuesday the 15th. 14 months!

I can't believe that Madison is 14 months already! She is growing up too fast! She is a regular toddler now and I am getting my workout! She is getting so good at walking and is trying to run too. She babbles all day long, it's so cute. She is going to be a big talker, like her Momma...poor Chris! Her vocab. is: Hi, bye-bye, up, mama, MOM! (when she is mad!), dada, papa, no, two, four, eight, ball, uh-oh. She also knows what a dog, cow, monkey, bear, lion and fish say/do. Pretty impressive I must say!! Christmas should be fun with her this year. She loves all the decorations...she gets really excited, says "Oooo!" and runs up to them. My mom has taught her to only touch the tree with one finger and she does really well with it. I love this little girl with all my heart!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow. We have a full day planned with family. I am excited to spend time with everyone and to EAT! We can start are diets later, right?! I wish we could see everyone but it's just too hard with so much family. But Christmas is just around the corner and we plan on trying to visit everyone before then.

Madison has been a busy girl lately....SHE'S A WALKER! I swear it happened over night! I thought it would be harder with her walking but I like it. I can let her down and hold her hand instead of carrying her everywhere. She LOVES walking... Sometimes she walks and runs into things because she is looking down at her feet cuz she thinks it's so cool! It has been amazing watching her grow and develop into a toddler. I love this stage...well, actually, I love every stage!

Chris and I want to start working out and eating healthier before we try for #2. We need to be able to workout at home. Does anyone have any suggestions for workout/nutrition programs? We were looking at p90x, has anyone used it? Is it good?

I was just informed tonight that my Dad actually reads my blog! This surprises me because my Dad has never been a computer guy. I didn't even know he knew how to turn it on! Well, I guess he is growing up because my mom said he checks his email everyday and checks my blog. SO...if I would have known this I would have most definitely posted this on his birthday (which was Oct. 10th)...

Dear Dad,

I am so blessed to have an amazing father like you. Growing up not only did you provide for our family, you were completely involved in everything in our lives. You never missed a dance recital, choir concert, or cheesy musical that I was in. You taught me to throw a baseball, ride my bike and pump the gas in my car. You even brushed my hair every night when I was little because mom was too rough! You are the same way with your Granddaughter. You drive home for lunch (eating your lunch on the way) on the days that Mom is watching her so you can play with her for an hour. You spend hours building a swing for her in your backyard. You are also a great father-in-law to my husband (who has so much respect for you). You have helped him with lots of home improvements and have took the time to teach Chris things, which he really appreciates. You are funny (just like me), generous (just like me), thoughtful (just like me), good looking (just like me) and cocky (just like me)!!! THANK YOU for being truly the most amazing dad, father-in-law and Papa anyone could ever ask for. HAPPY 40 something (plus or minus 10 or so years) BIRTHDAY!

HI! It's been a while! We have been busy planning someones first birthday party (that is this weekend). Madison's birthday was on the 6th. We had a little get together with our parents at our house. We had cake (3 different kinds) and ice cream. Madison LOVED it! We have pictures and video that I will be posting soon. We got her 1 year pictures taken by Chris's Dad and stepmother. They turned out so good! I love them! It is so nice to have photographers in the family! Madison has been cruising all over the place lately. She crawls SO fast and walks along furniture like a pro! She stands without holding anything but when she wants to go somewhere she crawls. I think we still have a couple months before she walks....which is FINE by me! Chris is still working, which is WONDERFUL! I am just trying to catch up on laundry and house cleaning....fun, fun! I also have a new obsession...GLEE!!! Ahh, I am such a dork! I was Vice-president of show choir and in all the musicals in high school so I knew I would love this show. My sister came over last night and surprised me with a CD of all the songs they have sang so far on the show!! We stood in the kitchen singing and dancing to all the songs while Chris and Madison watched us...well actually laughed at us! Poor Madison she is going to be forced to love musical theater! Brian and Brighite's Wedding

Chris's brother, Brian, got married yesterday. It was a beautiful wedding. Everything went smoothly (except the rain) and everyone had lots of fun! Brighite was absolutely STUNNING! Most beautiful bride ever! They are so cute together because he is like 6'6" and Brighite is really tiny.

Madison was a flower girl! She wore an ivory satin dress (with a matching bow, of course!) and adorable sparkly shoes (that she wouldn't keep on). The older kids pulled her in a wagon down the isle. My mom and I decorated the wagon with brown satin and ivory tulle (tutu style) around the whole thing (picture to come...). It turned out SO cute! Madison had a book in the wagon with her to keep her happy. We tried to take the book out before the ceremony but she wasn't having it. She was SO good the whole time! My parents took her home around 9:30 pm. (Thanks Mom and Dad)

The theme was fall (cinnamon [or rust] & brown). The flowers and bridesmaids dresses were a rust color...so pretty. The hall was decorated with ivory and brown table and chair covers and ivory and rust colored flowers. It was so nice...I love fall themed weddings!

Brighite is Albanian so we had lots of Albanian music. I learned the dance...its really easy but it took me forever to catch on. It was so much fun. The music is actually really easy to dance to! The DJ, Brighite's cousin, did an amazing job and this was his first wedding! He played such random old school songs (like NSYNC and fresh prince theme song). You know it's a fun wedding the dance floor is packed all night!

Emotions...

I am so full of emotions....Happy Emotions. I'm planning my babies 1st birthday party. I can't even believe that she will be one in a couple of weeks. This year has flown by and I don't know if I'm ready for her to grow up!! I know I don't have a choice though! She is becoming more of a toddler now. I love her independence but I miss her dependence (do you know what I mean?).

I always knew that I was going to love my kids with all my heart, but I never had imagined HOW much. I can't even describe in words how much I love my little girl. My mom always told me that a mothers love is indescribable and that i wouldn't understand untill I was a mom. I would die for her and if I could have, it would have been ME on that operating table. When we found out that Madi would be born with heart disease I was DEVASTATED (understatement). My husband took the news better than me. He said that this will make us love her more, cherish life and bring us closer. He was so right. I cherish every second of everyday with her. I try to take in every new milestone with pictures, video or just etch it in my mind. I know how short life really is and I don't want to miss out on anything!

I am full of happy emotions because my daughter is HERE and she is HEALTHY and she is turning ONE!

I'll admit it...I have not been a good blogger lately! I have been busy with Little Miss Busy Body! Madison is into everything. I can't let her out of my sight for one second! I can't even imagine how it is going to be when she starts walking! She is already attempting to let go when she is holding on to the couch. I live in a split level so it has been a challenge with all the gates. I need some parenting advice...Madison will NOT go to bed or take a nap unless I rock her to sleep. If I lay her down too early she has a fit! I know I created this mess but does anyone have any advice on getting out of this habit? I don't know where to start. I tried laying her down today slightly awake and I let her cry for 5 minutes. It never stopped and she was hyperventilating...SO I picked her up. HELP!

I have been working 3 days a week. It really isn't that bad, but of course I would rather be home with my girl. My mom, my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law watch her so I am so lucky! Daycare is too expensive and I never worry when I have to leave her with family. Plus they all within 2 miles of me!

We have been getting ready for Madison's 1st birthday party. We are having it at my parents house because I don't have enough room. It's so much fun to plan! I loved planning my showers and wedding so this is right up my alley. I am going all out for this one! Madison has gone through so much in her first year that I wanted to celebrate...not only her birthday but one year (on Nov. 11) of a healthy heart! I actually thought about having a "Healthy Heart" Party for her on Nov.11, but it's too much to have 2 parties. So we are combining them! We are only inviting our close family (grandparents/aunts/cousins) and a few close friends and the list is up to 75-80 people! I have such a large family. We are making it a open house in hopes that not everyone shows up at once! Here is a sneak peak of what her invites/theme is...(I'll post the whole picture once I get the invites out)

Cheeseburgers and Milestones

We went up north to Caseville this week. My parents along with my aunts/uncles/cousins all rented cabins on the lake. It was so much fun! We relaxed, ate lots of cheeseburgers at the "Cheeseburger Fest" in town, and enjoyed the beach. Madison had her first experience on the beach and she LOVED it! She loved the sun, water and eating sand! We had amazing weather and it was a perfect way to wrap up the summer.

Madison has 2 new milestones this week...Crawling on her hand and knees and pulling herself up! She is such a big girl! I am having SO much fun with her this summer. She is on the go now so I have to be really careful to keep my eyes on her every second!

* She likes table food much better than baby food

*Her Gramma calls her "Fuzzy Wuzzy" because of her hair!

*I'm guessing she is about 21 lbs. (She will be in the step up car seat soon)

*She is still nursing like a champ!

*Her smile/laugh/twinkle in her eye can light up a room!

*When we go to the store she screams "HI!!!!!" to everyone that walks by! She will not stop until they respond!

*She still sleeps great...9 pm to 9 am! (she gets up at 6 to nurse but goes right back down until 9am)

*SHE IS THE COOLEST 10 MONTH OLD I KNOW!!!

We have have been enjoying this beautiful weather lately. FINALLY it's hot here in Michigan. (It's about time, it's only August!) We have had lots of play dates lately. Madison is learning to share. (Not going too well, but what 9 month old shares?!) We had our last Mommy and Me class, those kids are way too cute. We are going to try and meet once a month still. It is so much fun to hangout with mom's of 9 month olds, we have so much in common!! Madi has had a cold for a month now...we have been to the doctor twice for it. It has been so bad (especially at night) that it has been waking her multiple times a night. I called again and they put her on a med for asthma, (I can't think of the name) it has helped a lot. I hope she doesn't have asthma though! Madison is getting more active everyday. She army crawls still but is getting faster at it! She learned to sit up from laying down position and is FINALLY bearing weight on her legs. I don't think she will be walking by a year, but I am A-OKAY with that! Speaking of that...we are planning her first birthday already. It's only 2 months away. I can't believe it!! We are having it at my parents house and are doing a Minnie mouse theme. Does anyone have any cute ideas?

Other news...We gave our dog, Bella away a few weeks ago. We live in a condo and are never home. I felt so bad for her. She loves to run and be outside but it was too hard with a baby. It was such a hard decision but it was the right one. We found a retired family that has a 3 other pugs. They are home all day and live for their dogs. Bella fit right in at their house. We have missed her a lot though.

Miss Madison Nicole (that is what she is called when she is in trouble!) has been real sassy lately! She hits and throws temper tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants. I am trying to ignore it and not let it bother me but I worry that it will get worse. I know that you can't really discipline a 9 1/2 month old. I am hoping its just a phase but does anyone have any advise???

PERFECT!!!

Madison had her 6 month post surgery check up today. I have been a nervous wreck for days about this. Even though she is doing so well, I still get nervous! You never know what is going on inside her little body. So we got there and the echo technician gave her her echo first and she did perfect! Except at the end when they have to get this weird view from the neck. She talked and cooed to him the whole time until he touched her neck and then she really told him whats up!! Then the nurse took us to the other room and asked how she is doing and I said "Perfect!" So, she wrote that down and did the EKG twice because she messed up. Madi was perfect through both EKG's and her weight. (19 lbs, 13 oz., she lost a few oz. from being sick!). So then we waited for Dr. C (the most perfect wonderful doctor in the world!) to come in and she said...

#1- No parent at her office ever says that their child is doing "perfect" after open heart surgery. She is SO impressed that she is doing everything a 9 month old should do. She is very happy that Madison is perfect and has NO issues what so ever (because that is rare).

#2- If it wasn't for the slightly leaky valve, she would never know that she had a heart disease!

#3- She does not anticipate that Madison will EVER need another surgery ever again! (and since she can't say 100%...worse case scenario would be a valve replacement late in life in the cath lab)

#4- We do not have to come back for another echo for a year!

#5- She put Madison and her heart in the PERFECT category!!! (This is amazing to hear coming out of a cardiologist's mouth!)

So today has been a PERFECT day! I am so blessed to have such a perfect baby!

*She has quite the temper when she doesn't get what she wants.

*She is down to 3 nursings and 3 meals a day.

*Her favorite toys are a book of pictures my mom made for her and an old beat up white stuffed animal my grandma gave her. She talks to the bear non-stop, waves at it and kisses it!

Madison had a rough week! All week she just hasn't been acting like herself. She was crabby and a little fever-ish (if that's a word). We just blamed it on teething. I even put oral gel on her "teeth" coming in and gave her tylenol. Thursday night, Madison vomited out of no where. Friday night she was up every 10 minutes SCREAMING. It was horrible for all of us! First thing yesterday I brought her into her doctor. We got an unexpected diagnosis...Baby Measles!!! WHAT!? I was so suprised and confused...what is it?...how did she get it? He said it's pretty common and not the kind of measles that they get vaccinated for. It is passed through saliva and is only catchy for children 2 and under. He said now that the rash started on her it's almost over. He didn't prescribe anything and just said to put calamine lotion on the rash and give her tylenol. So after an oatmeal bath, a dose of Tylenol, a dose of Benadryl and tons of calamine lotion, she is happy as can be!

Last week we had a nice visit with Chris's grandparents. Grandpa Joe just got back from a hospital/nursing home visit. He was very happy to be home and visiting with his great-grandbaby. Madison entertained everyone by rolling all over their living room floor and talking to herself!

URGENT Prayer request...

Princess Lindsay is back in the ICU. She may have suffered a seziure. She is now on ECMO (life support). They are running tests now to see what kind of damage it might have caused. Please pray that the ECMO give her time to rest and she is back to her happy adorable self soon.

Prayer requests...

A few days ago, my husband's 93 year old grandpa, Joesph, was rushed to the hospital via ambulance again. He is stable now, but they are unsure if he will be able to come home, have to be admitted to the hospital for a while or go to the nursing home for therapy. Please pray that he is well enough to come home.

A few minutes ago my mother-in-law called to tell us that she found her Uncle Lloyd unresponsive in his house. She is following the ambulance to the hospital as I type. Please pray that everything is okay. Update 10:00pm: He is doing okay, still at the hospital a little shook up. They are going to run tests...

Lastly, please pray for my wonderful Mother-in-law, Sandy (I'm not sucking up...she really is wonderful!). She is about to take on a big responsibility in taking over the care of her Aunt and Uncle. Pray that everything goes smoothly and stress free (today is not a good start).

Happy 8 months Madison!

What is Madi up to these days?...

*She is 20 lbs!!!

*She rolls all over the place!

*She is just now starting to want to crawl...backwards!

*She says "Mamamamama" and "Uh-OH!" (sorry Daddy!)

*She is eating cereal, fruit, veggies and puff snacks.

*She screams at the top of her lungs just to hear her own voice!

*She is starting to have a little bit of stranger anxiety, especially at night...

she only wants her "Mamamama".

*She loves eating her toes.

*She is very ticklish!

*She sleeps all night (unless she has a cold)

*We discovered that she loves looking at pictures.

*She love books.

*She loves looking at herself in the mirror.

*It's been almost 7 months since her Open Heart surgery and she is doing

wonderfully! We have her heart check up on July 13th.

*She has 2 teeth on the bottom.

*She is so unbelievably happy all the time!

Princess Lindsay is getting her perfect angel heart today!!! We met Lindsay in moderate care at U of M back in November when Madi had her OHS. She has spent most of her life in the hospital waiting for a transplant. She will be turning one in a week or so, what a great early birthday gift! Please pray for a sucessful surgery and a quick recovery. I am so excited for this family to finally be together at HOME!

DISASTER!

We had a bbq yesterday and we were making chicken wings on the grill. One of them fell off and Bella (our 3 year old Puggle) grabbed it and swallowed it WHOLE! I panicked and told Chris to give her peroxide and salt to make her throw it up. Well she did start foaming at the mouth but no throw up...thank goodness...I called the vet after and they said, OH NO! DO NOT LET HER THROW IT UP! (Oops!) It could get stuck in her oesophagus (spelling?). So now we wait for it to pass. I get to go through all of her "waste" to make sure she passes the bones...lucky me! Why do we have dogs????!

Update on Bentley..

Her Open heart surgery was on Wednesday and she got discharged yesterday! Only 6 days in the hospital! Isn't that amazing?! The surgery went perfect and she is doing great! Please pray for a perfect checkup on Friday. Because if all is well they get to head home!

Friday night we headed down to Indiana in the RV. We went with our friends Natalie, Brad and their 2 month old Trevor. The babies did great driving down there. The only one that had issues was me because I get SO car sick! We stayed with Brad parents Carol and Jim. Saturday night Carol and Jim stayed home with the babies and the 4 of us went out. It was the first time Natalie and I have gone out since we had our babies. It was SO much fun! Lots of laughing and dancing! Sunday we went to Brad's cousin's BBQ. Again, the babies did so awesome. We didn't hear a peep from either of them! We lots of good food and fun!

I am sure you all have read about Bentley on my blog several times. Well , I am asking you all to pray for her today. She is being admitted to the hospital for tests all day today and then her Open Heart Surgery is tomorrow morning. She has TOF and is having her complete repair, just like Madison. Please also pray for her parents. I know exactly what Bentley's mom, Crystal is going through. It is so unbelievably emotional and scary to hand your baby to a surgeon. They are so innocent and have no clue what they are about to go through. I know that Bentley will do AMAZING!

My surgery is over...

I had my gallbladder surgery yesterday around 1:00pm. Everything went well and was very "textbook" (which I love to hear...no surprises!) I was discharged by early evening because I was feeling okay. As soon as we got in the car it was a whole different story. If you live in Michigan you know that our roads are HORRIBLE! So many cracks and pot holes. Every bump was SO painful! The surgery left me feeling like I was ran over by a SEMI! I actually wasn't expecting that much pain.
Madison was more miserable than me...She didn't understand why her Mommy was not holding or nursing her. She literally cried all evening and than just crashed around 10:00pm from exhaustion. I feel so bad, I wish I would have just waited to see her until later today when I can nurse her. So far seeing her so upset was the worst part of my surgery.
Today I feel a lot better, maybe just like a motorcycle or four wheeler ran me over! (hopefully tomorrow...a bicycle!) I am trying to just take motrin and not vicodin so that I can nurse her tonight. Madi just woke up and took a bottle from my mom an she is all smiles! Thank goodness! Today is going to be a better day!

She found out that her health insurance will only cover a portion of the surgery. So, I have a new hobby! I started selling my hair bows at MOM 2 MOM sales. I have only done one sale so far but it went really well! I was the most popular table there! I am calling them Madi's Bows and I am donating a portion of the profits to U of M, Mott Childrens Hospital (where Madison had her surgery). I am also trying to spread Congenital Heart Disease awareness. I made this sign with Madi's story and some facts about CHD. I am working on making handouts for the bags and a bigger sign. I have two more sales coming up in the next month. If it goes really well I might start working on a website. I am also working on making headbands to donate to the little girls at Mott. I am also working on a CHD awareness GIVE-A-WAY (Crystal, I'm stealing your idea!) Any ideas on what I can make for the little boys?

Madison Nicole is 6 months old!

My baby is 6 months old! I can't believe it! We went to her 6 months check up and everything was great! She was 17 lbs. 12 oz. (75-90%) and 28 inches long (100%). My girl is such a tall, chunky monkey! Dr. V listened to her heart and said that it sounded "clear", which I am assuming was good. We started her on veggies, which she loves (besides green beans!). She has been really healthy and we pretty much made it through the winter with no sickness! YAY! She is rolling over both ways, sitting up on her own and starting to show signs that she wants to crawl. The older she gets the more fun she is getting! She has quite the personality! She is sweet yet stubborn! When I am nursing her, if I dont pay complete attention to her, or if I talk to someone or laugh at the TV she gets SO mad! She is starting to really recognize people now too. If you are playing with her and you walk away she cries untill you come back! I am having a blast with her! I am so blessed to have such a sweet healthy baby!

Well...the nightmare continues... TODAY Nicole's family was informed that Allen and Skylar are moving out of state TOMMOROW! He accepted a job and I guess had to move NOW. I can't even imagine what they are going through. First they lose their daughter tragically, then a few days after the one year anniversary of her death their granddaughter/neice/cousin/etc. is being taken away from them so suddenly! Nicole's parents decided to have an open house party to say goodbye to Skylar. I am hoping that they (and I) still get to see her on a regular basis with visits. I am asking everyone that reads my blog to pray for Nicoles family. My heart hurts so bad for them. Here are some pictures from the open house...

Update 4-12-09: Many people have asked what happened to Nicole. It is really hard for me to talk about but here is a short version.... Nicole was 9 months pregnant with a baby girl. She went into labor on April 9th early morning. Everything was going well, just progressing slow. Her blood pressure started to shoot up during her contractions. After only a couple of pushes Nicole suffered a brain aneurysm. They did an emergency c-section and she gave birth to a beautiful, healthy little girl, Skylar Nicole. Nicole passed away on April 11, 2008. She was such a beautiful person inside and out. Nicole lives on through her daughter and the many people she saved with organ donation.

She started eating rice cereal 2 weeks ago. She LOVES it. She is so ready for food but we have to wait another 2 weeks. Here are pics from her first rice cereal experience...

We also started going to Mommy and Me classes! They are so much fun! We meet every other Tuesday at a local church. We have so much fun that we also meet on the opposite weeks at someones house. There are 14 moms and 14 babies...10 boys and 4 girls. Her are some pics of Madi with her boyfriends!

My health update: I haven't had a lot of Gallbladder issues so I rescheduled my surgery and I'm getting a second opinion. I have an appointment with another surgeon on Friday.

Madison is almost 5 months old (on the 6th). She just had her 4 month check up yesterday and she is doing great! She was a little behind on her shots because of the surgery so she got 2 of her 2 month shots. I am spreading her shots out so she will get 2 more in a few weeks. She barely cried and as soon as i picked her up she smiled and stopped! After all that she has been through shots are a breeze! She weighs 15 lbs 12 oz. (90-95%) and was over 26 inches long (95-97%)!!! She is tall like her daddy! She is eating well, sleeping through the night, having no heart issues and is all caught up developmentally! We are so happy! She is such a happy girl and we are having a blast with her!

Look at her beautiful scar...you can barely see it and it's been less than 3 months!

My health update: I'm finally giving in and getting my gallbladder out. :( I have had too many attacks and the doctor said i have lot of stones. I had a meeting with the surgeon today and he will be calling me soon to set up a surgery date for the next few weeks. I am not worried about it, I'm sure it will go fine. If Madison can go through open heart surgery I can have my gallbladder out!

PLAYDATE #1 Ashlyn and Madison-Cousins

Madison had her first playdate with her 3rd cousin Ashlyn. (Her mom Steph is my 1st cousin) Ashlyn is 6 months old and Madison is 4. Look at how tall they are, (They are both in the 95 % for height)! It was so cute...when we set them across from each other, Ashlyn bent down grabbed Madi's foot and put it in her mouth! She loves to eat her own feet so she got excited to see someone elses feet that were small! She also tried to kiss Madi, it was so adorable! It was so fun to see the two of them interact.

Nicole's Mom Candy brought Skylar over last night for a couple of hours. She will be 10 months in the 9th! She is so beautiful just like her mom. She has the most adorable personality. She is such a happy girl but she can be sooo dramatic (also just like her mom!!). The girls were a little too far apart in age to interact. Madison just watched Skylar crawl and walk around the coffee table in awe! It was alot of fun but, to be honest, it made me sad because Nicole and I would have had so much fun together with our little girls. Skylar had such an amazing mom and I hope she knows all about her when she is old enough.

**Madison had her 2 month post surgery checkup today. She had an echo and everything looked great! There were 3 things that were of concern 6 weeks ago, 1-her valve was leaking, 2-her pulmonary artery was too small, 3-the hole (ASD) was still open. They found that 1-her valve stopped leaking so we get to take her off her meds, 2- the artery is still small but it is growing, 3- the hole is barely open and it should close they say by 18 months. Her doctor was SO impressed with how well she is doing. We don't have to go back for 6 months!!! She weighed 13 lbs. 4 oz. and 25 inches long...when the doctor saw that the nurse wrote 25 inches she said "no, that can't be right, that's so long!" We have such a tall baby! Madison is doing so many things now...holds her head up, almost rolls over, pushes off with her feet (she will crawl early i think!), tries to stand, laughs, coos, smiles, she discovered her hands and feet and is starting to grab at things! She is SO much fun! I love being a Mom!

*I heard this song today while I was driving to my doctors appointment and it really touched me. The lyrics make so much sense. Whenever I am crabby or complaining about life I am going to listen to this song. What it's saying is...don't sweat the small stuff, live everyday to the fullest and appreciate what you have. I have learned this year that life is so short. I lost my best friend, Nicole and had a baby with a heart condition. We spent 2 weeks at U of M hospital and during those two weeks I met so many families. Most of these families had been there for several weeks to months. Their children had more severe conditions then Madison had. I felt guilty complaining or telling them how well my daughter was doing when their daughter or son was waiting for a transplant. I just found out that Madisons roomate in the ICU , 1-month old Shanariyah, passed away over Christmas. I can't even imagine what her family is going through. I am not one that believes that everything happens for a reason. I believe that there is free will on earth and life is sometimes not fair. What reason is there to take a 1-month old who never had a chance at life or a Mother-to-be who never had a chance to hold her baby? I know now that I cannot take ANYTHING for granted. I do not want to let life pass me by. I have so much to appreciate... a healthy baby girl, a wonderful marriage and amazing family and friends.
